During this webinar, you will learn about major themes of the new strategy and why the change in focus is critical to the payments industry, areas of focus for future risk management initiatives, industry guidance from Nacha’s Risk Management Advisory Group (RMAG).

Nacha’s new risk management framework calls for a new way of thinking about fraud prevention, detection and recovery, and a cultural change in the industry about fraud information sharing.

Nacha’s previous risk management strategies for the ACH Network have focused on protecting consumers and organizations, and their account-holding financial institutions, from fraud due to unauthorized debits that pull money from their accounts.  Now, however, the most significant fraud threats to bank account holders involve frauds and scams that result in money being sent out of their accounts.

This Risk Management Framework identifies current fraud threats and provides direction on opportunities to improve fraud detection, prevention, and the recovery of funds.

This important webinar explores the objectives, themes and areas of focus as detailed in the Risk Management Framework.

This session examines how contracts and agreements comprise the foundation of the ACH Network, reviews potential concerns from different perspectives of all involved, and details best practices to define requirements by party and tactically ensure the agreements or contracts are addressing these issues.

Contracts and agreements are a cornerstone of the payments industry. Whether between financial institutions and a business client, an FI and a service provider, or between fintech partners, clearly articulating the terms of the agreement is critical to protect an organization while maintaining the integrity of the payment system. This session examines how contracts and agreements comprise the foundation of the ACH Network, reviews potential concerns from different perspectives of all involved, and details best practices to define requirements by party and tactically ensure the agreements or contracts are addressing these issues. Speakers also discuss methods to explain to clients that obligations are pushed through to them and the implications in case the terms are not understood or violated.

This course focuses on how Regulation E coverage extends (or not) to emerging products.

In addition to being more convenient, nontraditional payment methods for P2P, B2C and C2B also shift away from cards and checks to apps and mobile. These changes also raise questions about authentication and authorization methods, as well as consumer protection and regulatory assurances. This course focuses on how Regulation E coverage extends (or not) to emerging products.

Speakers on this webinar will discuss the identified gaps for cross-border ACH payment remittance, the ISO 20022 Underlying Customer Credit Transfer element used as the basis of the API, the development of the International ACH Remittance API standard, and the opportunities for implementation of the new API.

Nacha’s recently released Risk Management Framework report identifies the opportunity for cooperation and information sharing between financial institutions to successfully fight credit push payments fraud.  The International ACH Remittance API Standard (IAR) developed by Afinis, a Nacha operated organization, provides financial institutions that send or receive IAT ACH transactions with a real time method to send and verify ISO20022 international ACH remittance data to help mitigate fraud, avoid suspended payments and reduce cross-border ACH returns. Financial institutions can choose an IAR implementation option to support financial institution partnerships.

This session examines how to provide enough information to allow consumers to make informed choices for faster payments.

This session examines how to provide enough information to allow consumers to make informed choices for faster payments. Changes in the industry are occurring at a rapid pace, and at the center of that change is the convergence of payments innovation, marketing, and consumer understanding. Helping consumers make informed decisions while demonstrating that not all forms of payments are the same is critical, particularly while considering decisions from the CFPB perspective, disclosure requirements, consumer regulations and buyer protection, differences between credit push and debit pull, and what "irrevocable" really means. Speaker provides a foundational perspective - from the way products are marketed and how to present information about payments and payment choices - and listeners come away from this session armed with information about how to use the looking glass to help clients make informed decisions.

Speakers on this webinar discuss what constitutes "high risk" payments and the types and magnitude of transactions that give rise to such risks.

Financial institutions make business decisions to originate ACH transactions for clients, and it is incumbent on them to conduct appropriate due diligence and related risk management. With what could be considered high risk activity, it is imperative that the FI implements a robust and holistic risk management program throughout the life cycle that has active involvement and commitment across the organization. Online gaming, cannabis, adult entertainment, and other transactions are examples of industries where banks have proceeded with caution. These industries could represent potential threats to payment systems so, as a result, various payment systems rules have been defined, all with the goal of protecting the integrity of the system as well as limiting possible risk. Speakers in this session discuss what constitutes "high risk" payments and the types and magnitude of transactions that give rise to such risks. Understand who needs to be involved and why, what process elements need to be considered, and what are potential client showstopper questions.

This session provides listeners with an understanding of who regulators are, what they do, and the extent of the regulatory reach.

The seemingly endless alphabet soup of payments regulators can lead to confusion and even angst. Which agency governs which organization, what entity can impose sanctions or create enforceable rules, what types of oversight fall under the purview of what regulator? It's enough to confound any payments professional seeking out a clear plan to help guide their organization. This session provides attendees with an understanding of who regulators are, what they do, and the extent of the regulatory reach. The speaker provides advice on how best to create procedures to respond and relate to regulatory bodies while communicating the need for understanding changing regulatory requirements.
